Vadaedra and Forh's Beach, their history, culture, beliefs, rulers, resources, weapons and Armor, and fighters.
Vadaedra was founded 7000 years ago during the time of rest, 400 years after Yonduor became king of the realm. It was a large landmass full of grass, plateaus, mountains, hills. It was a beautiful and vast land and looked like something out of a book. And it was rich with a special kind of stone called hardstone, with bunnies, hogs, and felines dominant in the area. It's trees were called linen trees for their bark and leaves produced fabric-like material. It was found by a party of 100 men and women who were wandering looking for a place to build a society. They were artistic and well cultured folk of various species and backgrounds. This is what helped make Vadaedra diverse. They started looking for material to build shelters but the trees were only good for cloth like material and the core of the trees were highly flammable.. So they looked to the stone and it was too brittle to make a reinforced building. Desperate, they all searched until the leader of the party- Forh, found a beach, 200 acres wide and long. It was a tall cliff surrounded by black sand. That smelt of coal and grains were hard as stone. Forh started to use oil fire to make a small bundle of sand into glass. It took an hour and immense heat. He pulled out a ball of glass that was very light, and it didn't break against the cliff when thrown. And when struck with his sword it made a shrill metallic sound and nicked the sword. He filled many many bags full of sand, an entire ship's full back the the main land. His fellow travelers were impressed and decided to name the Island Forh's beach to credit him for starting off their society. They got to work immediately making structures out of the glass, eventually making a castle with large walls from it. It proved to hold up practice sieges and weather. Though the cold made the glass brittle and the castle was destroyed. Killing Forh and three others. So 100 years passed, the travelers kept breeding and kept perfecting their arts and eventually they mastered glass making. Their new leader Gared, decided to call the land Vadaedra, and the Glass Vadaedran glass. Vadae is Elven for elegant, and Dra is Draconic for everlasting. Once they perfected glass making, they moved on to making clothing. With the trees providing the resources they needed they adopted cloth making faster and 3 generations passed. They became some of the best weavers in the realm. They remained in a peaceful state with very little going on. They had merry times and enjoyed all the festivals and artists and plays. Until one day they were attacked by the Dark Elf King. Unprepared- he took them by surprise and slaughtered many, overthrowing them. However he got bored and left deciding it's not truly conquering if there aren't even fighters to fight back. For the next 4000 years, the Vadaedrans started to perfect their crafts taking in the besf blacksmiths and weavers they could. They stayed a peaceful kingdom but they knew very well how to fight. Due to their balanced diet and mostly lean but athletic builds; their people adopted dancing and fencing for fighting. Relying on speed, culture, knowledge, observance, and nimbleness to win the battle. They fought the War of Light, The Great One, The Battle of Sand, The Battle for Vadaedra, and the Lost Forest. They now face tension as the other kingdoms for the forces of Khan, Kavron, and all the dark forces taint all the realm. But they are prepared, and they know battle. It was after The Great One that a portion of Vadaedra migrated to Forh's Beach to live in a safer place where they had the waters to protect them and their kingdom as a wall.
Culture: Vadaedra is a mixed cultural kingdom since it was founded by a group of men and women from many races and many backgrounds coming from the people. Therefore the citizens there are well educated and are able to speak many many tongues and read in many writings. There is no discrimination or slaves, and most there are merry and love good food, art, sport, and entertainment. They are well rounded.
Nearly all people there are lean due to the fact they only have pig and rabbits for protein, and the Fûshi berry for other nutrients so they have well balanced diets. They also are constantly doing physical labor and training. Or sport such as hunting and barrel tossing. Most, or atleast the humans who take residence in Vadaedra are usually taller folk but lanky and somewhat physically unimpressive (however there are exceptions). Vadaedrans are great talkers and traders and often regarded has light hearted and having an amazing sense of humor. They are generally friendly folk. But some of them are regarded as more strict than a general in Con's army. They are often humble and social class isn't much to them. Their leader is the wisest in the kingdom and the fairest. But lives mostly the same life style as any other citizen in Vadaedra. They are usually born adventurers and like knowledge. Always having a curious gleam in their eye and very social. They have allies with most kingdoms in the realm due to their behaviors. However, they are known to be cruel pranksters and the fighting teachers and strict and hard as their glass.
Beliefs: Like most in the realm they believe in the 11 Gods, but their main god they believe in is Gördûę the God of the Sea.
Rulers: their rulers have been many over the years. Forh being the first and Brandon being the current one. The Leader of the people is the one who is the kindest and fairest. But also the one who is most bold and determined and the wisest. They call their leader the Ìrrenei which is South folk word for "Destined"
Resources: They are rich with Rabbits and Swine. Other than that
-Fûshi Berries: Reddish Green berries that taste like blue wine and provide various nutrients to the boy. The size of an apple
-Hardstone: brittle but tough stone that makes up the mountains and cliffs of Vadaedra, brown grey in color
-Yü trees: trees with tough but highly flammable wood with leaves that produce dye and bark that acts as a cloth as strong as linen and as soft as silk.
-Blacksand: Sand the color and smell of coal, plentiful and grains as tough as stone. When melted and forged it makes Vadaedran glass, elegant as Royal glass yet as strong as steel. Used to make buildings, weapons, shields, and boats.
Weaponry: Vadaedrans take pride in their weaponry. Carefully and masterfully forging glass swords that make surgically precise and clean cuts and stabs, shields that break arrows, and of course their finely carved wooden practice swords.
Armor: Vadaedrans have spent generations perfecting the padded armor known as a Gameson, which fits best to their fighting style and beliefs, and is stronger and more flexible than any Gambeson in the land. They are master weavers and make only the finest of Gamesons. They also have leather armor for when they need extra reinforcement. Hard tanned rabbit and hog hide. And for helmets they wear sacks for masks as they do not like the extra weight. And lack of vision
Fighters: Their fighters are the best duelists you may ever see. They go through some of the hardest and most brutal mentally and physically demanding training. They are taught to be strong, swift, observant, quick thinking and acting, well balanced, nimble, and precise and effective. They are called the Glass Panthers from many who have fought them. And indeed part of the training is to be quicker and more nimble than a cat. (Both household, and great cats)
It has been stated that one Vadaedra swordsman is equal to 5 well trained knights in skill. And many warriors have lived up to the claim. They are trained to take on any opponent or situation and adapt. They are said to be able to move so fast that few can keep track with their speed. Even more so with certain species. But they also all have a high sense of honor and are trained to have a high moral code and be merciful at times. Which is why most have defeated more than they've killed.
